  • Religious Education at St. Ambrose

    Elementary (K-7)
    Students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 6 study the We Believe series published by Sadlier. Sadlier has an internet resource textbook: sadlierreligion.com/webelieve that is meant to be used in conjunction with classroom textbooks. Parents are encouraged to download additional faith-based materials and activities to do at home.

    Seventh and eighth grade follow the Blest Are We curriculum published by RCL Benzinger. RCL offers an online parent component with a Saint of the Month and a weekly Mass connection question at the following: blestarewe.com/parents/.

    The scope of the curriculum is in a sequential order. 

    The primary grades (1-3) learn the concept of God's family and hear traditional and Biblical stories of Christian examples. The intermediate grades (4-6) explore the meaning of belonging to the Church (participation and growth of faith) and study the treasure of Scripture and history. The seventh grade focuses on Jesus by studying the life, values and teachings of Jesus.

    8th & 9th Grade
    Eighth grade youth and their parents are invited to participate in the parish process of preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation, which is celebrated at St. Ambrose on the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord in January. Throughout the first semester of the eighth grade year, the students study Church history. 

    During the following year, starting in January, the students begin their preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. They make decisions about their commitment as Christians and are involved in experiences of services to others. Chosen from Acension Press is the textbook.

    High School
    All high school students are welcome and encouraged to continue their involvement in faith formation past their Confirmation in leadership roles such as catechist assistants, vacation bible school leaders, as active members and volunteers in parish life, and as participants in adult education sessions held at the parish.
