The ARK at St. Ambrose was very heavily damaged by the floods that overwhelmed the Grosse Pointes and the Eastside of Detroit in June 2021. The ARK is being rebuilt from the walls out since the damage was so severe.
Update: while the work is nearly finished, environmental problems have cropped up - further delaying the completion of work and the re-opening of the ARK.
From the peaked skylights to the graceful curve of the boat-shaped wood-paneled wall, from the stainless steel wave-like ceiling to the artfully pleasing décor, The Ark is unlike any other banquet and conference center in the area.
This totally unique, below-ground space was designed by world-class architect Gunnar Birkerts, who has 50 major worldwide architectural awards to his credit. A very versatile space, The Ark’s 7,000 square feet comfortably holds 360 people in lecture-style seating and 160 people at table seating.
Folding walls easily divide The Ark into breakout rooms for meetings. Sound, video and Internet help make every presentation sparkle. A dance floor is available.
The Ark’s fully equipped and licensed catering kitchen comes alive with the creativity and talents of our professional catering staff. We treat each event as our own, providing flexibility in menu choices and presentation styles to meet the needs of any occasion and budget. From hors d’oeuvres parties to tables brimming with sweets, from Sunday brunches to fun food stations, from buffet-style events to formal sit-down dinners, we deliver sumptuous options at attractive prices. Our experienced and highly professional service staff combines courtesy and efficiency to help make every event at The Ark memorable.
